My Story
I graduated from the University of Michigan in 2012 with a BS in Informatics with a Life Science
concentration. I then started a career in IT focused on QA engineering. Over the next few years,
I learned about health disparities faced by transgender patients and wanted to make a difference.
I decided to change careers to dedicate myself to improving health inequities faced by LGB and
gender-diverse patient populations. In time, I gained acceptance into a graduate nursing program
at the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, MA.
As a graduate nursing student, I wanted to start promoting awareness and education about trans
health issues. In 2022, I spoke at the annual Philadelphia Transgender Wellness Conference. Our
workshop was geared towards helping transgender patients navigate gender-affirming surgery. At the
encouragement of a professor, I was invited to deliver a lecture on gender-affirming care, focusing
on hormone therapy, to primary care clinicians at the MGH-Charlestown HealthCare Center.
Generally, my clinical interests include diabetes management, LGBTQ+ care, and BIPoC health
disparities.
In my free time I like to read and learn more about the intersections of health, tech, and social
justice. My favorite tech podcasts include anything hosted by Kara Swisher. I am an early adopter
of new tech and am working on starting my own tech videos.
